NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on July 26, 2016, Flatwood Farm, LLC (Applicant), filed an application seeking a certificate of public convenience and necessity pursuant to G.S. 62-110.1(a) for construction of a 5-MW solar generating facility to be located on the north side of Corinth Road, west of the intersection with Dickens Farm Road in the Township of Cape Fear, Chatham County, North Carolina. The Applicant plans to sell the electricity to Duke Energy Progress, LLC.
Details of the application may be obtained from the Office of the Chief Clerk of the North Carolina Utilities Commission, 430 N. Salisbury Street, 5th Floor, Dobbs Building, Raleigh, North Carolina 27603 or 4325 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-4300 or on the Commission’s website at www.ncuc.net.
If a complaint is received within ten days after the last date of the publication of this notice, the Commission will schedule a public hearing to determine whether a certificate should be awarded, will give reasonable notice of the time and place of the hearing to the Applicant and to each complaining party, and will require the Applicant to publish notice of the hearing in this newspaper. If no complaint is received within the time specified above and if the Commission does not order a hearing upon its own initiative, the Commission will enter an order awarding the certificate sought by the Applicant.

CHATHAM COUNTY HAS BEEN AWARDED FEDERAL FUNDS UNDER THE
EMERGENCY FOOD AND
SHELTER NATIONAL BOARD
PROGRAM FOR 2016

Chatham County has been awarded federal funds made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.
Chatham County has been chosen to receive $8,217 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.
The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and consists of representatives from the American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA; The Jewish Federations of North America; The Salvation Army; and, United Way Worldwide.  The Local Board was charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country.
A Local Board made up of local representatives of the organizations listed above will determine how the funds awarded to Chatham County are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area.  The Local Board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under this phase of the program.
Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must:  1) be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, 2) be eligible to receive federal funds, 3) have an accounting system, 4) practice nondiscrimination, 5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and /or shelter programs, and 6) if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board.  Qualifying agencies are urged to apply.
Chatham County has distributed Emergency Food and Shelter funds previously through Salvation Army.  The agency provided assistance with past due rent, mortgage and utility bills.

for Compactors
Chatham County Solid
Waste and Recycling

Chatham County is issuing this Request for Bids (RFB) from qualified companies for the
installation of electrical services at four (4) Collection Centers for compactors.
Chatham County has four (4) solid waste and recycling collection centers that will be installing compactors and requires electrical services to be installed for the compactors. Work consists of connecting to an existing electrical panel, running conduit and wiring to a proposed disconnect switch, installing a disconnect switch, and related site work. Contractor shall obtain all permits required and is responsible for locating any utilities at the centers. Any utility conflicts shall be
potholed to determine depth and to develop a plan for avoidance.
