A Democratic Primary election will be held on March 15, 2016 in Chatham County, North Carolina to vote for the Democratic party nominee for US President, US Senate(Burr seat),  NC Governor, NC Lieutenant Governor, NC Attorney General, NC Commissioner of Labor, NC Superintendent of Public Instruction, NC Treasurer, County Commissioner District 1 and County Commissioner – District 2.  Eligible voters will also vote on the Connect NC – Public Improvement bond. Seventeen year olds who will be eighteen years of age by November 8, 2016 are eligible to vote in Party primary elections.  Voters who are 17 are not permitted to vote for the Bond.  All voters registered as Democratic in Chatham County are eligible to vote in this election.  All Unaffiliated voters are eligible to vote in this election, but you must state which Party ballot you wish to vote when appearing to vote.  You may only vote in one Party Primary.
Most voters will be asked to present acceptable photo identification when presenting to vote in person at the polls, with exceptions for voters who are unable to obtain acceptable photo identification, have a religious objection to being photographed, or are victims of a natural disaster.  The acceptable forms of photo identification are a NC Driver’s License or DMV-issued Identification Card (expired up to four years), US Passport or Passport Card (unexpired), Military ID Card or Veterans Affairs ID Card (unexpired, if there is an expiration date), and certain Tribal Enrollment Cards.  VOTERS WHO ARE UNABLE TO OBTAIN ONE OF THESE FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION MAY STILL VOTE IF THEIR INABILITY IS DUE TO A REASONABLE IMPEDIMENT such as a lost or stolen ID, lack of transportation, illness or disability, a lack of proper documents, work schedule, and others.   These voters may vote a provisional ballot after completing a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and providing an alternate form of identification or the last four digits of their social security number and their date of birth.  Acceptable alternate forms of identification for voters who complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration include their voter registration card or a current utility bill, paycheck, government check, bank statement, or other government document bearing the voter’s name and current address.  Alternative voting options are available for voters who do not present acceptable photo identification for a reason other than a reasonable impediment to obtaining one. A Non Partisan election will be held on March 15, 2016 in Chatham County, North Carolina to vote “For” or “Against” the Connect NC – Public Improvement bond. All voters registered as Unaffiliated in Chatham County and choose not to vote in the Republican, Democratic or Libertarian primaries are eligible to vote in this election.  Most voters will be asked to present acceptable photo identification when presenting to vote in person at the polls, with exceptions for voters who are unable to obtain acceptable photo identification, have a religious objection to being photographed, or are victims of a natural disaster.  The acceptable forms of photo identification are a NC Driver’s License or DMV-issued Identification Card (expired up to four years), US Passport or Passport Card (unexpired), Military ID Card or Veterans Affairs ID Card (unexpired, if there is an expiration date), and certain Tribal Enrollment Cards.  VOTERS WHO ARE UNABLE TO OBTAIN ONE OF THESE FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION MAY STILL VOTE IF THEIR INABILITY IS DUE TO A REASONABLE IMPEDIMENT such as a lost or stolen ID, lack of transportation, illness or disability, a lack of proper documents, work schedule, and others.   These voters may vote a provisional ballot after completing a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and providing an alternate form of identification or the last four digits of their social security number and their date of birth.  Acceptable alternate forms of identification for voters who complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration include their voter registration card or a current utility bill, paycheck, government check, bank statement, or other government document bearing the voter’s name and current address.  Alternative voting options are available for voters who do not present acceptable photo identification for a reason other than a reasonable impediment to obtaining one. POSED CLASSIFICATIONS

The N.C. Department of Environmental Quality has issued draft proposed classifications for impoundments at 10 coal ash facilities that were not classified as high risk by the Coal Ash Management Act of 2014. The department has prepared a written declaration that includes findings of fact that document and support the initial draft proposed classifications. You may view the written declaration at the Chatham County Health Department, the Chatham Community Library, or online at: portal2.ncdenr.org/web/guest/draft-classifications. After Feb. 2, 2016, the written declaration will also be available online at www.deq.nc.gov. The draft proposed classification for the Cape Fear facility (five impoundments) is intermediate risk.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
The public is encouraged to provide feedback on the draft proposed impoundment classifications. All comments received by April 18, 2016 will be considered in determining final impoundment classifications. Written comments may be submitted to: N.C. Department of Environmental Quality, Attn: John Holley, 3800 Barrett Dr., Raleigh, NC, 27609.

The Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on Feb. 15, 2016 at 7 pm in the City Hall Courtroom located at 311 N. 2nd Ave.  Public hearings and Board discussion will be conducted on the following request:

A public hearing will be held by the Chatham County Board of Commissioners on Monday, February 15, 2016, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The hearing will be held in the courtroom of the Historic Courthouse in Pittsboro, North Carolina at 9 Hillsboro Street.
