RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A PUBLIC AUCTION TO SELL
CERTAIN PROPERTY OF
CENTRAL CAROLINA COMMUNITY COLLEGE

The Central Carolina Community College Board of Trustees moves the adoption of the following resolutions:
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of Central Carolina Community College owns personal property known as “Chatham Cottage” which is a small, affordable and energy efficient home built by Sustainability Technologies students at the Central Carolina Community College campus in Pittsboro, North Carolina; and
WHEREAS, the “Chatham Cottage” which is a 512 sq.ft. frame dwelling house with 479 sq.ft. of living space. This house has 2×4 exterior walls with 1” thick continuous R-5 foam board, and long lasting North Carolina Cyprus siding. The roof is framed with #2 spruce 2×6 rafters tied to a raised 2×8 ceiling assembly, with a vaulted ceiling over the living room. Energy efficient vinyl windows are added for additional heating and cooling efficiency. It is finished with one bedroom and one bathroom and bathroom fixtures, kitchen sink, and a 200-amp service panel, suitable for all future service upgrades. Flooring is reclaimed 3/4” pine. A high efficiency BROAN low sone bathroom fan and Panasonic Energy Recovery Ventilator, is also used for increased indoor air quality. The walls and ceilings are insulated with non-toxic, formaldehyde-free fiberglass batts, with R-15 in the walls and R-38 in the ceilings. Walls are finished and painted drywall. The kitchen has custom built-in cabinets, certified by KCMA. The house is complete with light fixtures. It features a long lasting metal 5V galvanized tin roof (Energy Star) with 5’6”x6’ roof extension for a covered front porch. The house will require addition of a heating and cooling system, appliances, electric water heater, footing, and foundation upon placement at permanent site. The house is now on temporary pillars and must be removed from the premises after sale is complete; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the legal authority contained in North Carolina General Statutes 115D-15 and 160A, Article 12, the Board of Trustees of Central Carolina Community College proposes to sell said cottage at public auction.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Trustees of Central Carolina Community College:
1. That President Marchant or his designee is hereby authorized to proceed on behalf of and in the name of the Trustees with such action as is necessary and legally appropriate to sell and dispose of the above described “Chatham Cottage”.
2. That the sale shall be by public auction conducted by Lonnie West, a licensed auctioneer, on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 3 o’clock, on the Pittsboro Campus, 764 West Street, Pittsboro, North Carolina.
3. That the successful bidder will be required to make a 10% deposit by either cash or certified check on the day of the sale with the balance due within ten (10) days after confirmation of the sale by President Marchant or his designee. Legal transfer of the “Chatham Cottage” shall not take place until the sale is confirmed and the successful purchaser has complied with the terms of the sale. Any and all bids may be rejected if determined to be inadequate.
4. That the building must be removed from the college premises within thirty (30) days from the date the successful bid is approved and accepted. After thirty (30) days the risk of loss shall be on the successful bidder.
5. That the property shall be sold “AS IS” with no warranties as to quality, condition, or value and can be inspected at its location by appointment or from 12:00 p.m. through 2:00 p.m. on the day of the sale.
